Great Hard Rock is hard to come by nowadays, when do you come across those loud guitars and husky vocals it’s like finding riches in a gold mine. The latest band to come into the spotlight is Italian force VOODOO HIGHWAY with their EP ‘Pervert Country’.
VOODOO HIGHWAY are a freaky quintet from Ferrara, Italy. They formed in the year 2010 by guitarist Matteo Bizzarri, vocalist Federico Di Marco and bassist Filippo Cavallini; they recruited in turn Alessandro Duo for the keys and Vincenzo Zairo for the drums. They’ve been defined as ‘the new DEEP PURPLE’ by bass legend Craig Gruber who was a former member of BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and GARY MOORE. They have already infected the radio airwaves of Europe, USA, South America and Japan. If the sounds on this EP are anything to come by it’s no great surprise.
This EP contains excellent musical arrangements; the husky Hard Rock vocals, the slick guitar riffs and solos, a no nonsense bass line and thunderous drums. The three tracks on the EP show us something different.
‘NY Dancer’ is the opening belter that has lots of attitude and sassiness about it. ‘Grace Of The Lord’ reminds one of the tones of LED ZEPPELIN classic ‘Whole Lotta Love’. ‘Tears Of A Brand New Sea’ has that catchy melody that one wants to play over and over again. Each track evidently has packs of energy and powerful melodies that will go down extremely well with the Hard Rock crowd.
One thing the Hard Rock crowd likes is a track they can bust some moves to other than moshing and headbanging, each track brings out your sexy, fun persona that wants to dance whilst swishing your glossy hair along to the beats.
Three songs displaying no nonsense Hard Rock, for those a fan of this genre will like this sound.
